ITV have axed two of its comedy shows after just one series. The broadcaster has cut both Ruby Speaking and Count Abdulla which were both exclusively created for ITVX.
Ruby Speaking followed newly-single Ruby (played by Jayde Adams) who worked at Hellocom call centre in Bristol. As the life and soul of the party, Ruby was very popular with her colleagues and even entered them in a choir competition. The show also starred Katherine Kelly, Joe Sims, Sam Swainsbury, Jamal Franklin and Nicky Goldie.
An ITV spokesperson told TVZone: "Ruby Speaking sadly won't be returning for a second series, we'd like to thank the cast and crew for all their hard work in bringing [Ruby Speaking] to our screens." ITV have also revealed Count Abdulla has also been cut - the show was centred around Abdulla Khan played by Arian Nik.
When Abdulla, a young British-Pakistani junior doctor based in London, is bitten by a halal-hunting vampire, he finds himself stuck in an identity crisis.
