Indiana Jones legend dies as friend says 'we have lost a great one'

Robert Watts, who worked as a production manager for George Lucas on iconic science fiction movie Star Wars and its first two sequels, has died at the age of 86 at his home in West Sussex.The producer, who also worked with Steven Spielberg on the first three Indiana Jones movies, as well as acclaimed comedy adventure Who Framed Roger Rabbit, died on Monday 30 September in his sleep.The news was confirmed to Deadline on Tuesday by Robert's representative, Julian Owen of Alliance Media.

He wrote: “Goodnight to my wonderful friend and client Robert Watts, Producer of some of the most famous films in cinema history.Talking about his career was his favourite thing to do.

We had some amazing adventures together which I will cherish forever.” Born in London in 1938, Robert worked on iconic movies throughout his career.

After completing his National Service in 1960, he worked as a runner and production assistant at Shepperton Studios and later as a production manager and location manager on movies including 1965's Darling, starring Julie Christie, the James Bond movie You Only Live Twice with Sean Connery and Stanley Kubrick's 2001: A Space Odyssey.
