A young woman was left for dead by a hit-and-run driver as she walked for the last tram home. The 25-year-old victim was on the pavement with members of her family on Fairfield Road, Droylsden, when a black car, believed to be an Audi A5, ploughed into her.

Today the woman's mother said: "In my book it was attempted murder. The car was deliberately driven at her. We have no idea why, she has no enemies."
