When eight men who operate a remote research station mysteriously vanish without a trace, Detectives Liz Danvers (Foster) and Evangeline Navarro (Reis) are on the case to plumb the mysteries beneath the eerie ice. “True Detective” creator Nic Pizzolatto is an executive producer, but this has new blood in the form of showrunner /creator Issa López.
Where to watch: Jan. 14, 9 p.m., on HBO and Max. “The Affair’s” Ruth Wilson stars in this limited series about Lorna Brady, a woman from a fictional Irish town who wakes up one morning to find a corpse in her house — with no idea of who it is, how it got there or if she is responsible, since she’s been a long-time sleepwalker.
Where to watch: Jan. 21, 9 p.m. on Showtime (Jan. 19 on Paramount+). Sofia Vergara stars as “cocaine queen” Griselda Blanco, a real-life female drug kingpin who headed one of the most lucrative cartels in history and helped turn Miami into a war zone in the 1980s.
