Hillwalker rushed to hospital by helicopter after suffering 'serious injuries' on Scots mountain

A hillwalker was rushed to hospital by helicopter on Saturday after falling on Ben Cruachan and suffering "serious injuries".Rescue workers had to be flown out to the casualty and then winched down to them before they could help in the difficult terrain in Argyll and Bute.The team were then able to transfer the hillwalker safely to HM Coastguard who took the casualty to hospital in Glasgow.Oban Mountain Rescue Team have released a safety warning to the public about difficult weather conditions in the hills despite the spring months.A spokesperson said: "Team called out today to a report of a hillwalker who had fallen on Ben Cruachan sustaining serious injuries."Team members, including a team doctor were winched down to the casualty by HM Coastguard Helicopter Rescue 199, and assisted the winchman to treat and package the casualty.

The casualty was then winched back onboard Rescue 199 and transferred to hospital in Glasgow. We wish the casualty a speedy recovery."Clocks Spring forward tonight but Winter icy snow still covers many ridge and summit paths in the highlands.
