HBO’s ‘Harry Potter’ Series Opens Casting Call for Harry, Ron and Hermione: ‘We Are Committed to Inclusive, Diverse Casting’
variety.comJordan Moreau The search for the next Harry, Ron and Hermione has begun. HBO has opened a casting call for the three stars of its upcoming “Harry Potter” TV series.
Fans spotted the casting call circulating online Monday, and HBO confirmed its authenticity to Variety. The casting call is looking for children who will be between the ages of 9-11 in April 2025 and who are residents of the U.K.
and Ireland. The notice also says that casting will be inclusive to all races, ethnicities and gender identities. “We are committed to inclusive, diverse casting,” it reads. “For every role, please submit qualified performers, without regard to ethnicity, sex, disability, race, sexual orientation, gender identity, or any other basis protected by law unless otherwise specifically indicated.” The application requires the actors to submit two short self tapes, including a short poem or story — but nothing from “Harry Potter.” “Please prepare a short poem or story of your choosing.
It can be from your favourite book, a poem that you love, a monologue from a play or something you’ve created yourself. Please, nothing from ‘Harry Potter’.
