The Tonight Show was the last of the major late-night shows to air new episodes of Fridays. CBS’ The Late Show With Stephen Colbert, ABC’s Jimmy Kimmel Live!, NBC’s Late Night With Seth Meyers, and Comedy Central’s The Daily Show already operate on a four-episode a week schedule.

Earlier this year, the network renewed its deal with the talk show host and The Tonight Show to keep them on the air at least through 2028. Jimmy took over hosting The Tonight Show in February 2014, following in the footsteps of Jay Leno, Conan O’Brien, Johnny Carson, Jack Paar, and Steve Allen.
