Airdrie boss Rhys McCabe insists there won’ t be any extra effort to beat Hamilton Accies in Saturday’s Lanarkshire derby, because it’s just another game. The Diamonds head back to New Douglas Park for the first time since beating Accies on penalties to drop them down to League One a season ago, and reach the Championship after 10 years of trying. Both sides have had a season, where the Diamonds reached the promotion play-offs, as did Accies, successfully, to regain entry to the second tier.Airdrie are going through a sticky patch, having lost their last three games, including 2-0 at home to Queen’s Park on Saturday. But McCabe says his focus is just on trying to get three points from South Lanarkshire. He said: “It’s a good one to get stuck into.

They won 1-0 so they will be on a positive mind-set and we have to make sure that we go into that game with the mentality that, first and foremost, you have to earn the right to play, work hard, do the basics really well, and then do the stuff that we ask them to do.“It’s the first time we’ve played them since a massive game in the club’s history, but it’s probably a whole new team on both sides, maybe only a handful of players that are still available.“There will be no persona vendetta to go and make sure we turn over Hamilton.“In my opinion it’s another game.

I’ve got to look at the bigger picture – how can we go and win the game, how can we approach training this week, and try and get a positive result.”McCabe handed debuts to defenders Sam Graham and Luke Badley-Morgan, the latter of whom arrived on Friday on loan from Stoke for the season. The gaffer said: “I think Luke and Sam at the back, we had to throw them in there.
