Greg Rutherford 'gave himself C-section' as he finally reveals Dancing On Ice injury
ok.co.ukDancing on Ice star Greg Rutherford has revealed details of his horrific injury ahead of having surgery.The sports star recently shared gruesome footage of the moment disaster hit just days before the final of this year's series of Dancing on Ice, which forced him to withdraw from the ITV competition.
In the video, Greg can be seen diving through a professional skater's legs, which is when things went very wrong. He wrote alongside the video: "Here we gooooo.This is the showcase we didn't get to perform due to injury." He explained further: "The point where I dive through Colin and Brendyn's legs is where everything went wrong last Sunday.This is from either Friday or Saturday so I was still ironing out a few timings issues (which I'm sure you will notice)." And now, speaking on his Instagram Stories, the Olympian said he "effectively gave [himself] a C-section" after he tore his abs when he tried to skate through the legs of professional Colin Grafton.
He told his fans: "Today is surgery day. Loads of people have been asking 'what happened?' I've been a bit busy and obviously just recovering from the initial injury before I had the surgery that I hadn't got round to talking about it. "Long story short, I leapt through the legs of Colin and managed to tear all of my abs as well as herniate.
So I effectively gave myself a C-section. So yes, it was horribly painful. It needs to be operated on today and then I'll be properly on the mend.
