April has begun with heavy rain across Greater Manchester and around the country. Our region has enjoyed some pleasant weather over the Easter bank holiday weekend so far.
But conditions have taken a turn for the worse this morning (April 1), with a wet start to Easter Monday. Periods of rain are set to continue throughout the day in Greater Manchester, according to Met Office forecasters.
It comes as parts of the UK will be battered by downpours today. There are currently four red flood warnings in place from the Environment Agency, in South West England, and 110 amber flood alerts across large parts of England. Showers could bring between 5mm and 15mm of rainfall in some areas, according to forecasters. While the North West is expected to escape the worst of today's weather, umbrellas will still be needed in Greater Manchester today, and temperatures are not expected to climb above 10C.
