Trafford council is considering closing its town hall one day a week as well as ‘changes’ to the borough’s children and adult services as it prepares to finalise its budget for 2024-25.
A meeting of the authority’s executive will on Monday (January 29) consider a review by Trafford’s scrutiny committee chair Coun David Acton of the budget proposals.
Ahead of that meeting Coun Jo Harding, Trafford’s executive member for finance, change and governance, was adamant no final decisions had been made, as the authority seeks to plug a £1.75million budget gap. “We’ve been clear that we’ve written to Government ministers pointing out that we are one of the lowest funded authorities in the country,” she said. “The process is ongoing and nothing has been finalised yet.
