Getting warmed up for one night of Southern Fried
dailyrecord.co.ukSouthern Fried returns to Perth at the end of July but organisers decided that for 2022, the American roots music celebration would be distilled into just one perfect night.
Two special gigs are planned for Saturday, July 30 with one at Perth Concert Hall and an intimate, late session at Perth Theatre’s Joan Knight Studio.
The award-winning festival hasn’t taken place since summer 2018, but organisers are set to delight Southern Fried’s loyal following with this exclusive one-night, double bill event when top names will sing Nanci Griffith favourites and Perth ’s country singer Katie Whittaker will later on take the stage alongside blues and reggae fusion legend-in-the-making, Errol Linton.
Southern Fried Festival director Andy Shearer said: “Whilst it hasn’t been possible to stage a full weekend festival this summer, we didn’t want to let another year go by without giving the Southern Fried family a chance to gather again, even just for one night, as so many people are clearly champing at the bit to come back to Perth. “Scotland Sings Nanci Griffith, the show we put together for Celtic Connections this January was such a success, that we - and all the artists involved - jumped at the opportunity to restage it.“Nanci was an iconic artist from Texas who sadly passed away last year.
