Four rushed to hospital after crash on A9 as police warn motorists to avoid area

Motorists have been advised to avoid the A9 at Inverness-shire after a three-vehicle crash left four people in hospital. Emergency services raced to Slochd Summit at around 11.33am on Tuesday, July 5.

Multiple police vehicles and crews from the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service (SFRS) attended the scene of the collision. Three fire appliances were sent along with specialist resources as images showed smoke from the vehicles billow into the air.Five ambulances, three air ambulances and a Prehospital Immediate Care and Trauma team were also present at the time.The Scottish Ambulance Service confirmed that four people had been rushed to hospital.

Two of them have been taken to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary and the other are at Raigmore Hospital in Inverness. The road is to remain closed as investigators carry out enquiries to establish the full circumstances surrounding the crash.

Diversions are in place and Police Scotland have advised motorists to use alternative routes. A spokesperson said: "Enquiries are ongoing following a serious road crash, involving three vehicles on the A9 this morning."We have a more specific location for motorists to be aware of - the incident occurred on the A9 at the Slochd summit."Four people have been taken to hospital so far.
