Five star performance sees Linlithgow Rose past Gala Fairydean Rovers

It took a while for Linlithgow Rose to get going on Tuesday night in their Lowland League clash at home to Gala Fairydean Rovers - but a five star display after the break saw them run out comfortable 5-0 winners.The clash at Prestonfield was a slow burner with neither side taking much control in the opening half hour before it became virtually one-way traffic for the remainder of the contest.The Rose somehow passed up five glorious chances in the final 10 minutes of the first half but were thankfully not made to rue the missed opportunities as an altogether more clinical showing in front of goal after the break ensured the three points.Both Dylan Paterson and Sandy Cunningham missed two great chances in the first half, with Dale Baxter also squandering a decent opportunity, but it took the Rose just two minutes after the restart to open the floodgates.Alex Webb was on hand to turn the ball home after a corner-kick made its way to the back post.The Rose didn’t quite have it all their own way and almost conceded an immediate leveller as Gala saw a strike thunder back off the bar but a fine turn and strike from Paterson found the bottom corner on 57 minutes and the points were as good as in the bag by that stage such was the Linlithgow dominance.Paterson turned provider with 20 minutes to go as he found Baxter on the edge of the box.
