First coronavirus case confirmed in Tameside bringing the Greater Manchester total to 19

The first coronavirus case in Tameside has been announced today, bringing the total number of Greater Manchester patients to 19.

Stalybridge and Hyde MP Jonathan Reynolds confirmed a male in the borough had tested postive for the virus. Mr Reynolds said the patient and his family are self-isolating.

No further details have been released at this stage. Writing on Facebook Mr Reynolds said: "There has now been one singular case of COVID-19 confirmed in Tameside . "The person and his family are self-isolating and I wish him a full and quick recovery. "Please continue to wash your hands frequently and follow advice re travel.
