Second coronavirus case confirmed in Tameside

A second case of coronavirus has been confirmed in Tameside. It came as a third case was confirmed in neighbouring Stockport.

As of 3pm on Thursday (March 12), the number of confirmed cases in Greater Manchestert stood at 26. The news in Tameside was confirmed by Stalybridge and Hyde MP Jonathan Reynolds today (Thursday).

Posting on Facebook, Mr Reynolds urged people in the borough not to 'panic'. He said: "There’s now been a second confirmed case of coronavirus in Tameside. "There is no need to panic. "The balance between strong action to the delay the peak of the viral transmission and 'keep calm and carry on' is a delicate one.
