Ferocious blaze breaks out in Ayrshire town while residents slept

Two people have been evacuated from an Ayrshire flat after a blaze broke out in the early hours of this morning.A man and woman were removed from the upstairs apartment of a property on Dalrymple Street in Girvan just before 1am.Officials have confirmed that no one was injured in the blaze and police aren't treating the inferno as suspicious.Fire officers received a 999 call at around 12.40am reporting the fire, which is believed to have started in the flat above a bookmakers' on Girvan's high street.A Scottish Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: "We received a call to attend a building fire at a residential premises on Dalrymple Street, Girvan at around 12.40am on Sunday, September 18."Four appliances were in attendance.

The two occupants of the flat, a man and woman, were evacuated and no one is reported as being injured. "The fire is not being treated as suspicious.
