Ofgem has confirmed that annual household energy bills will rise by £149 on average in just a couple of months. From October 1, the energy price cap will rise from £1,568 to £1,717.
However, the price cap is not a maximum limit on what household will pay on their bills and instead dictates the price per unit of gas and electricity used.
Therefore, some households may pay more while others will pay less, depending on their usage. The daily standing charge for electricity will also rise slightly to 60.99 pence (24.50 pence per kWh) while the has standing charge will rise to 31.66 pence (6.24 pence per kWh).
Many energy customers may feel berated that their bills may increase once again. However, experts have advised that there are ways to reduce bills and better prepare your finances ahead of the October increase - with one thing meaning you know "exactly where you are".
