Rangers will learn just who they will be facing in the revamped group phase of the Europa League in Friday's draw in Monaco.The full compliment of 36 teams that will take part in the new format were confirmed following the conclusion of Thursday night's play-off round ties, in which each side will have eight opponents in total - with four fixtures at home and four away.

For years Europe's second most prestigious club competition had ran with the traditional format of eight groups of four teams, but UEFA have now rolled out a new structure across all three of their competitions in which clubs will now battle it out in one big league.Seedings is still taken into account for draw purposes, but in this new format they aren't as important with each club facing TWO clubs from pots 1-4 to make up their eight fixtures.

Philippe Clement and his men are in pot one thanks to their impressive displays in the Europa League in recent seasons, but can still expect some big trips across the continent as well as home tasty match-ups on home soil.

The likes of AS Roma, Manchester United and Ajax are also in pot one with Turkish giants Fenerbahce and La Liga side Real Sociedad included in pot two.The teams ranked from first to eighth in the final league standings progress directly to the last 16 stage, while the sides placed between ninth and 24th will then play each other in a two-legged play-off to fill up the remaining spots.
