It took Lasse Fredriksen longer than intended to suit up for the Edinburgh Monarchs. Now he's managed that, he's in no rush to leave as the 25-year-old signed up for a second campaign at Armadale Stadium. The Norwegian ace had been signed for the 2020 season before the covid pandemic brought the sport to a halt, before a last-minute rule change saw him being prevented from joining the following season. He finally made it to West Lothian last year and is determined to take a further step forward in year two after agreeing a return to his 'first choice' club, becoming the fifth player to put pen to paper for the 2023 SGB Championship season. He said: "I'm really pleased.

It was my dream and my first choice for what I should do next summer."Last year I sometimes achieved what I wanted, and sometimes not, and overall I would like to have done a little better.

I was struggling to find consistency, so that is what I am looking for in 2023."I have decided to pull out of international competitions for the time being and focus more on league racing with Monarchs and also Valsarna, my Swedish team.

I found it hard last year when maybe I had matches over the weekend and had to travel overseas in between."This year I won't do that, though I hope to return to international meetings in the future."Fredriksen's form wasn't helped by some unlucky crashes last term, with him adding: "Missing matches was disappointing, especially because I wanted to ride all the tracks during the season.
