A care home battling a deadly coronavirus outbreak has cancelled all annual leave and is charging exhausted staff for meals.Seven elderly patients at Whitehills Care Home have now died because of the disease, with 39 staff absent for reasons related to COVID-19.Thistle Healthcare, who own the facility, last week hit out at delays in testing care sector workers and slammed the government for problems in sourcing PPE for staff, saying both had caused them “significant problems”.Bosses claimed they were “managing” with the staff they had and expected they could call on bank staff if needed.But the News can reveal things at the 100+ bed facility have gotten so bad that agency nurses “threatened to walk out” unless permanent staff were brought
