A forces charity boss had a lucky escape during Storm Arwen.Robin Hood was returning to his home on the banks of Loch Ken near Mossdale when the Southwest Scotland RNR van was hit by a tree.Although the charity’s mascot – a wooden carving of a squaddie – survived unscathed, the van has had to be written off.And that means there will be no fundraising during what is normally a busy time for charities.Mr Hood explained: “December is usually the best month each year if you are a charity as people are generous.“I’d been looking to raise £10,000 or £15,000 this month.
