A drunk woman beat her ex-girlfriend with chair legs and an alarm clock in a 'vicious attack'. Pauline Sumner's victim said she 'feared for her life' as she was repeatedly struck by her ex-partner, Lancs Live reports.

Sumner, 49, launched the terrifying attack - which happened on December 9 last year - after she showed up to the victim's flat in Blackpool and declared she was still in love with her.

She had been drinking alcohol before, a court heard. A row broke out and the 'defenceless' victim tried to leave, but Sumner pushed her back into the bedroom and began repeatedly hitting and kicking her. She said she feared for her life as Sumner took the legs from a chair and beat her with them, before swinging an alarm clock by its cable and launching it towards her.

The victim eventually passed out as a result of her injuries. When she came around, she found Sumner had fallen asleep on her sofa and took her chance to leave.
