A Greater Manchester town centre has been dealt a blow after a coffee giant announced its plans to leave. Costa Coffee has confirmed its branch in Wigan town centre will shut for the final time on Sunday, June 25.
The café is currently situated on the upper floor of the Grand Arcade Shopping Centre, which opened its doors in 2007. It means the town centre will be left without a Costa branch, with the nearest found at Robin Park.
There are no current plans for any further Costa Coffee closures in Greater Manchester, the Manchester Evening News understands.
The firm's major rivals Starbucks and Caffe Nero remain in Wigan town centre, along with a number of independent cafés.
