Coronation Street star Tony Maudsley has issued a warning to fans over an 'imposter'. The actor took to social media to tell his loyal following that he is being impersonated online and wanted to warn them against following or engaging with the fake account.

Tony, who is currently known for playing George Shuttleworth in the ITV soap, shared a screenshot on Instagram of a fake account using his name and image on Friday (October 18).

Alongside the post, the soaps tar wrote: "Ignore this account. It’s nothing to do with me. Just another weirdo imposter." Referring to the account his was posting from, Tony added: @tonymaudsley1 is my only Insta account." It comes after Tony recently delighted fans as he was seen enjoying a Benidorm reunion.

The star may be treading the cobbles now but how can fans forget his stint in the hairdressers at the Solana hotel. While many will likely recognise Tony for the role of Undertaker George in Weatherfield, many won't shake off his past acting credits, particularly that of hairdresser Kenneth Du Beke in the hit sitcom Benidorm, a role he played from 2011 to 2018.
