Road policing officers in Scotland have slammed the "ridiculous" speed a driver allegedly reached while travelling on a main road earlier today.

Cops from Police Scotland 's Road Policing Unit (RPU) tweeted a picture of the alleged readout from a speed gun they said was used to pick up a driver on the A92 dual carriageway between Dundee and Arbroath.

Tagging the tweet #DundeeRP, the Road Policing Scotland account said: "Just because it's Saturday doesn't mean you should speed. "Motorist detected at 103mph in 70mph limit on A-92 between Dundee and Arbroath today.

Ridiculous speed."A spokeswoman for Police Scotland confirmed a 30-year-old male will be reported to the Procurator Fiscal in connection with an alleged road traffic offence.
