Copa América, which kicks off later today with Argentina taking on Canada, is set to be the subject of a docuseries. The South American Football Confederation (CONMEBOL) and production company Tronito/Idelve unveiled plans to co-produce a six-part series about the tournament.
The news comes hours ahead of the tournament starting in Atlanta. It runs through July 14 with Lionel Messi’s Argentina hoping to defend their trophy.
The tournament is being held across the U.S. with the final taking place at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami. The USA kick off their opening game on Sunday June 23 against Bolivia.
The series will offer unprecedented access to the matches and the behind-the-scenes moments of the 16 participating teams. Diego Piasek, who was previously SVP, Head of Development & Current Series, MGM International TV Productions, will exec produce the series alongside Gonzalo Arias.
