Chelsea are adamant that defender Levi Colwill will stay at the club this summer despite reported interest from Manchester City and Liverpool.

Colwill, 20, is currently at Brighton and Hove Albion after being loaned there as part of the transfer that saw Marc Cucurella move from the south coast to west London during the summer transfer window.

After completing a second temporary spell away from Stamford Bridge in as many seasons, Chelsea plan to have the player as part of next season's first-team squad, the PA news agency reports.

City and Liverpool are both credited with an interest in the left-footed central defender. But a three-year option included in the England under-21 international's contract seems set to keep him in the capital for the foreseeable future.
