The BBC has responded to claims that Amanda Abbington has requested footage from her rehearsals with Giovanni Pernice during her time on Strictly Come Dancing.The actress, who left the show suddenly in October due to personal reasons and later revealed she has Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, is reportedly keen to review the recordings following some backstage disagreements with Giovanni.
Speaking in a new statement, a spokesperson for the BBC said on Monday: “The BBC offers a comprehensive range of support to all individuals taking part in our shows. "Strictly Come Dancing has always taken duty of care incredibly seriously and there is a constant dialogue between senior members of the production team and the contestants to ensure any concerns are addressed swiftly.
Strictly has a proud track record as a joyful, positive experience where robust support and assistance is always made available at every stage of the production.” According to The Sun, the BBC have received a request for the footage as a data subject request.
A source told the publication: "There is a feeling that the recordings will lift the lid on what really goes on behind the scenes on Strictly.Things in rehearsals can become very tense." They also said Giovanni is "incredibly full-on" because he's a "perfectionist".
