An armed gang of yobs thought to be terrorising a town were caught on camera trying to steal a motorbike outside a supermarket - before lunging at shoppers and staff who attempted to intervene.

The drama unfolded at the Sainsbury's store in Hazel Grove, Stockport, on Saturday afternoon (September 2). Three men arrived on bikes.

A video circulating on social media shows them brazenly using bolt cutters to cut free a blue motorbike secured to a bike rack.

A bike is then driven towards a group of bystanders. Some were filming what was happening. As a member of the public holding a shopping trolley and a member of staff approach, one of the culprits swings at them with a metal bike chain.
