Andy Goram battling cancer as Rangers legend undergoing treatment in local hospital

Rangers have confirmed legendary keeper Andy Goram has been diagnosed with cancer. The former Ibrox keeper, nicknamed 'The Goalie' during his playing days, was a hero of the club's Nine In A Row years during his time in Govan between 1991 and 1998.

A Rangers statement reads: "Rangers can confirm our legendary goalkeeper, Andy Goram, is undergoing treatment for cancer in a local hospital.

Club officials are in regular contact with Andy and his family. "The family have asked for privacy at this time."Everyone at Rangers wishes 'The Goalie' well at this difficult time." With Rangers, Goram won five league titles, three Scottish Cups and two League Cups.

Prior to his Light Blues stint he was a regular at Oldham Athletic and Hibs, while he would turn out for Sheffield United, Motherwell and even on loan at Manchester United later in his career.
