The showrunner for Andor is calming some Star Wars fans fears about the upcoming Disney+ series.

Speaking at the TCA Panel this week, Tony Gilroy is clarifying the time frame of the show and why it won’t cause any disruption with the canon storyline of the franchise. Click inside to read more… Tony shared that Andor will cover the five years between its start and Rogue One.

The first part of Andor will cover one year in the life of the rising rebel Cassian Andor, and the second part will divide up the remaining four years before Andor meets the rebel squad, with different directors helming three episodes at a time that cover a different year in Andor’s life. Tony added that the series finale “will walk you right into Rogue One.” The showrunner told press that the character fans meet at the start of Andor is not nearly bold or experienced enough to reprogram an imperial droid like K-2, let alone roam freely with it drawing attention to him. “We’re telling the story that we want to tell and we’re not violating the grand canon, let’s put it that way,” he says.

Andor, with Diego Luna in the title role, will debut on September 21 with three episodes on Disney+. Watch the official trailer here!
