Ambitious concert arena and tennis facility plan for North Ayrshire after major cash injection

Plans for a state-of the-art tennis facility in Kilwinning that would double as a concert arena have been boosted by a significant cash injection.Kilwinning Community Sports Club (KCSC) have received £55,000 from North Ayrshire Council to help realise their vision of a multi-purpose facility for residents and members.The funding, from the council's Community Investment Fund (CIF), will cover almost two thirds of the estimated £84,000 required to transform an unused golf range at the Pennyburn facility into three tennis courts.Colin Boyd, board trustee at KCSC said: “The popularity of tennis over the past five years has created an increasing demand for this type of facility so we’re delighted to be able to add tennis to our ever-expanding offering of sports activities here at the club.“Our design for the new space will be multi-functional to encourage the participation of other sports activities such as netball and basketball."It will also double up as a concert arena – we’ve already reserved spectator seat spaces around the site for this purpose.
