Everything seemed to be going well for the 61-year-old, who was stationed next to ITV commentator Sam Matterface, armed with his trusty microphone and headphones.
But minutes before kick-off, while watching the national anthems, McCoist was left wondering where Matterface had gone. To his horror, Matterface was next to him all along, he just could not hear the Englishman's commentary through his headphones.
In an exclusive interview, McCoist, who was promoting Greggs' 'eXpected Greggs' campaign', was asked how often technological mishaps take place while he is on air.
