While many couples only tie the knot once, a growing trend among celebrities in recent years has been to hold second weddings to renew their vows - but one couple who opted for a second wedding long before it became fashionable are Victoria and David Beckham. The couple initially tied the knot all the way back in 1999 in a lavish ceremony that featured a very regal theme complete with crowns, thrones and multiple outfit changes - something that seemed particularly apt for football’s golden boy and his pop superstar bride.
However, when renewing their vows seven years later, the former England captain and his fashion designer wife opted for a far more lowkey ceremony in an intimate and private venue attended only by their nearest and dearest.
But what exactly was the wedding like and where did it take place? At the time of the wedding in 2006, David and Victoria were primarily living in Madrid, where David was based at the time for his sporting career, but flew home to the UK for a special surprise ceremony that had been kept entirely secret from Victoria!
Keen to renew his vows, David had organised a secret celebration at the couple’s £11.5 million Hertfordshire family home, with three of the couple’s four children in attendance (as Harper wouldn’t be born until 2011).
