The most common reasons behind a restless night's sleep have been revealed following a new study. The research found that the main reasons for unsettled rest include stress, fretting over finances and not quite getting the temperature right in the bedroom.

A study of 2,000 adult participants revealed that 38 per cent of people suffer from poor sleep because of an uncomfortable mattress.

Another reason for restlessness was due to a partner snoring with 36 per cent of people woken by the noise. Sleep is also often disturbed by traffic noise, light coming in from the window, and lifestyle habits including consuming caffeinated drink, according to the study.

Additionally, mobile phones have a big impact on sleep with 14 per cent staying awake to scroll through social media, 12 per cent playing games and 13 per cent reading on their devices before bed which can lead to a bad night - reports The Mirror.
