The Justice Department is recommending a six-month prison sentence and a $200,000 fine for former Trump aide Steve Bannon due to his failure to comply with a subpoena to appear before the House Select Committee investigating January 6. In a filing Monday, the Justice Department said "the rioters that overran the Capitol on January 6 did not just attack a building—they assaulted the rule of law upon which this country was built and through which it endures." "By floating the Select Committee’s subpoena and its authority, the Defendant exacerbated that assault," the Justice Department wrote.

A Kansas woman accused of murdering her ex-husband and his girlfriend two decades ago has been released on bond after a judge reduced the amount to $350,000 from $1 million last month. Dana Chandler, 62, was charged with two counts of murder in the July 2002 Colorado shooting deaths of Mike Sisco, 47, and Karen Harkness, 53, at their home in Topeka.

A disability advocate told Buzzfeed News on Wednesday that NBC's interview with Democratic Senate candidate John Fetterman will increase "violence" against disabled people.  "The way Burns handled that interview will only worsen attitudes and violence towards disabled people in a time when virtual accommodations are being removed left and right after they were implemented overnight in 2020," Charis Hill told the outlet.  Hill called on NBC to apologize for "overt discrimination."  NBC reporter Dasha Burns' interview with Fetterman aired on Tuesday. The mother of missing Georgia toddler Quinton Simon, who was last seen one week ago, was photographed leaving her family’s home Wednesday for the first time since the boy disappeared.  Leilani Simon, 22, was spotted leaving her family’s Savannah house on Wednesday afternoon before returning shortly thereafter. A woman accused of being a member of the so-called "green goblin gang" that attacked two teenagers on a Manhattan subway train turned herself on Monday and was released Tuesday without bail.  The NYPD said Mariam Issouf, 26, was arrested Monday in connection with the Oct. 2 assault on the northbound N platform at the 42 Street-Times Square subway station.  New York City police released images of four woman who were allegedly part of a group of suspects wearing neon-green bodysuits while attacking two women on a subway train.  (Fox New York ) Two 19-year-old female victims told NYPD officers they were engaged in a verbal dispute with a group of unidentified individuals.
