A young man was murdered after trying to act as a peacemaker when a fight broke out following a row over a car, a jury has heard.

Badri Issa, 22, had been on his way to an exercise class with his pal Omar Jeylaani when Raami Mohamed, the driver of another car, gestured for him to pull over, a court was told.

The two cars pulled over in a lay-by in Moss Side, and in the ensuing dispute Mr Issa was stabbed in the chest. Manchester Crown Court was told he had tried to ‘calm things down’ and told them to ‘chill’.

Prosecutors said there had been a ‘background of hostility’ between Mr Jeylaani and Mr Mohamed following a ‘dispute about a car’. “Nothing that occurred in that background gives rise to the slightest possible justification for what happened to Badri Issa that night,” prosecutor Richard Pratt KC said.
