Woman rushed to hospital after police van crashes into her

Dashcam footage has revealed the moment a pensioner was struck by a police van. The elderly woman, in her 80s, was rushed to hospital from the scene of the collision on Rochdale Road in Harpurhey on Monday (September 9).

Emergency services were called to the scene, close to Queens Park, at around 10.50am. Police said the woman, a pedestrian aged in her 80s, was walking when she was hit by the police vehicle.

Dashcam footage, taken from a car on the opposite side of the road, captured the moment the woman appeared to walk out as she attempted to cross, before she was struck and sent falling to the ground. The police van appeared to have mounted the pavement as it attempted to swerve the pedestrian. Her injuries were described as 'minor' by Greater Manchester Police.
