Woman robbed at knifepoint after giving man who pretended to need her help a lift

Rochdale. She was driving along Red Cross Street when she was approached by a stranger at around 2pm on Sunday, September 6.The woman drove the man towards Peel Street where he asked her stop, before turning and threatening her with a knife.Police say the man ran off with the woman's handbag.

She was unhurt was traumatised/A 35-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of robbery. He is being quizzed by detectives.A 28-year-old woman was also detained - on suspicion of fraud and handling stolen goods.Detective Sergeant Crystal-Dee Soutter, of GMP's Rochdale division, said: "This was a really shocking incident; a woman with such good intentions unfortunately found herself subjected to such an awful attack by a man whose mind-set could not.
