It feels like Love Island was only just on our TVs, but now the winter series will be on our screens in just a matter of weeks.

The winter version of the show, which is set in sunny South Africa, will air Monday January 16, according to reports. This is the second series of the winter version as ITV2 had to cancel the show due to air in 2021 due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Another change fans will notice this year is that Maya Jama will be presenting the show after Laura Whitmore announced she was stepping down as host after two years.Love Island bosses have been contacted for comment.

A source told The Sun that ITV producers wanted the show to begin on 'Blue Monday', dubbed that name as it is supposedly the gloomiest day of the year. "This year’s contestants will be flown out to South Africa earlier in January and will start filming for the first episode the day before," the insider said.
