Bury started to flood the M66. The water pipe burst on a housing development site near Manchester Road and Bury New Road in Ramsbottom.

A huge fountain of water was sprayed into the air and some of it landed in the motorway carriageway causing flooding. The A56 southbound carriageway to the M66 Junction 1 is shut due to flooding.
