When Rishi Sunak surprised the country and his own party by calling a general election for July 4, compensation bills for the victims of the infected blood and Horizon scandals were rushed through parliament to make sure that people got the money they deserved.

With more than 270,000 affected women having already died without justice and a Parliamentary and Health Service Ombudsman (PHSO) report urging the government to "act swiftly" on thousands of pounds in compensation, WASPI campaigners want their plight at the top of the new parliament's in-tray, reports the Daily Record.
