No Avanti West Coast trains will run on Saturday due to continuing strike action on the railways, bosses have announced with a warning to passengers.

As a result, commuters are being advised to claim a refund, seek alternative transport or rearrange journeys. Avanti said no trains would operate to and from 'all destinations across the network' on September 30 - impacting passengers wanting to travel from Manchester Piccadilly to London Euston.

Industrial action is taking place by members of the train driver's union, ASLEF. Rail replacement services will not be running either, Avanti added in a statement on Wednesday. A spokesman said: "Customers are being told not to attempt travel on Saturday 30 September – when the train driver's union, ASLEF, will go on strike – because Avanti West Coast will be unable to run any services. "With no trains running to and from all destinations across the network during the ASLEF industrial action, customers are advised to claim a refund, seek alternative transport, or rearrange journeys for another date.
