A student waitress "burst into tears" when a kind-hearted customer left her with a life-changing tip. Lauren, who lives in Melbourne, Australia, was left gobsmacked by the giant gratuity during her shift at the Gilson restaurant in South Yarra. The Italian eatery is a favourite haunt of celebrities and influencers and Lauren had been serving a young man who is understood to be a cryptocurrency billionaire.

The customer was so impressed with her service during his $500 (£285) meal that he left her a tip of 2,000 per cent - a whopping $10,000 (£5,200).University student Lauren said she was "extremely grateful" for the tip, and was so shocked when she saw the gratuity amount, she asked the generous customer, who is believed to own more than $120 million (£62m) worth of property in the Toorak suburb, offered her the gratuity, to say it out loud.Gilson policy is that tips are split equally among the staff, but the diner said he would only leave the tip if Lauren got $7,000 (£3,650) of it, with the remaining $3,000 (£1,550) dished out to her colleagues.Talking to 7NEWS, Lauren said: "I am just extremely grateful, to know that they thought that much of my service is amazing."When it happened, Lauren ran to her work pal Charlotte Crow to tell her unbelievable story.
