Consumer experts Which? have named the UK's cheapest supermarket for the third month in a row - and it may surprise some people.
Aldi has been beaten to the top spot as the cheapest supermarket in the UK by Lidl for the third month in a row. Lidl has been crowned the cheapest supermarket in the UK for March, with a basket of just £26.83. READ MORE: Aldi in hot water with furious parents over popular 55p baby wipes According to the latest monthly analysis from Which?, Lidl has beaten the big four supermarkets, as well as Aldi who took second place with a basket costing 31p more.
Which? compared prices for a trolley of 21 grocery items from throughout March, including both own-brand and branded goods, revealing that, on average, shoppers would have paid £26.83 at Lidl.
Products analysed included fresh produce such as apples and eggs, and household names such as Hovis wholemeal bread, to give a comprehensive review of the UK’s cheapest supermarket in March.
