They explain that the reason for this is because one of the biggest risks in hotels and motels is connecting to unsecured Wi-Fi networks. "These networks can be a hotbed for hackers looking to intercept your data", they warn.They explain that it is risky because not only can unsecured networks expose your personal and financial information, but hackers can use these networks to launch man-in-the-middle attacks.Instead, you should use a Virtual Private Network (VPN) to encrypt your internet connection.
As well as this, Bayraktar suggests to only connect to networks that require a password and have strong encryption.When you are in public, you should also avoid charging your phone via public USB ports as these can be compromised to install malware on your phone.
