Parts of Scotland are set to see high winds and possible thunderstorms this week as the weather turns wild. From today, winds are set to reach as high as 55mph on the west coast of Scotland.Showers will continue to creep into north western areas with more cloud and rain predicted on the coast from Wednesday evening. Some thunder is also predicted from Wednesday night, although this is set to be isolated.Met Office spokesperson Richard Miles said: "Looking at the pressure pattern we've got a westerly showery air mass dominating over the next few days."Scotland is probably the only place really over the next couple of days that might see any thunder at all but they will be isolated in the far north in the Highlands today and further south to the northwest tomorrow."Thursday will see intermittent showers throughout the country, which will be broken with some bright spells.Friday will continue to see showers in the north and the west, but the south and east are set for dryer conditions.Luckily, better weather is in store over the Platinum Jubilee weekend. While the forecast for the Platinum Jubilee will become clearer closer to the time, "the long-range outlook shows a trend for some possible warm weather in southern areas, and closer to average temperatures further north," according to the Met Office.
