Two new cases of coronavirus have been confirmed in Stockport - bringing the total number in the borough to five. Public Health England says the people affected are receiving the relevant care in line with its guidance.
The agency is now tracing people who may have come into contact with them and will advise on what steps they should take next.
Anyone not contacted by PHE does not need to take any action other than to follow the general guidance currently on the NHS website.
The council say they are working closely with colleagues in the health sector to ensure people in Stockport are protected. It is advising residents that good hygiene - washing your hands regularly and thoroughly - is the best way to avoid contracting the virus.
