Ardwick, is now on a mission to make the ‘Made in Manchester’ tag a permanent reality again with a project helping local members of the community learn the art of textiles and design.

Taslima studied textiles at university and quickly grew interested in traditional techniques that were at risk of being forgotten.

In 2013, she set up Creative Design & Manufacture UK (CDM). The non-profit organisation, situated inside a 5,500 sq ft mill in Ardwick, uses creative sessions to help make positive changes to women and children from disadvantaged and minority backgrounds.During the pandemic, these weekly sessions proved to be even more of a lifeline than could ever be imagined.
